Another week, another update and for update number 2 we are staying with the lofi vibes for a little longer. I also decided to do the numbering by week to make it easier to see whenever there has been an update, especially since I will be progressing the same as the week numbers of the year.
I have decided to be updating the playlist weekly for the whole of 2018! You can press play right away and then scroll down for the story.
Included in the playlist this week
This week marks the first time a Dutch artist is included, which I did not plan to do in the first place, but some of the music that comes from here is just too good to not share. Next to that, the track ‘Ramses’ by Dave Budha does not need your full understanding of the lyrics for you to appreciate it. While the song starts with nothing more than harmonized humming, the verses contain actual words but the delivery has moments where it hovers between actual articulation and mumbeling that’s unbounded by conventional songmaking. The chorus then is nothing more than a beautifully distorted outcry fully void of discernable words but filled with relatable emotion. You should hear it for yourself.
Other inclusions for this week are Jhene Aiko with one of the realest songs she wrote, Kendrick Lamar with one of the greatest recordings of raw ideas in recent times, Roy Woods with one of the waviest tracks of his Waking at Dawn tape and last but not least, OutKast with a classic track that I came across when watching Donald Glover’s Atlanta a while ago that I just had to add for it’s undeniable bounce an flow.
See you next week.
